Description

This Harley-Davidson heat shield with wings embossing is made of beautiful buffed bridle leather.  It has a ply of split leather (Suede) on the bottom, so nothing can scratch your motorcycle. Both layers are glued together with industrial cement and stitched around the edges. Then we  emboss it with our butterfly design, leaving a border to add studs or a tooled border.

In order to install your Harley Davidson heat shield with wings embossing you remove your seat. Take your heat shield and let some lukewarm water run over the top layer for about 30-60 seconds. Line up the opening in the heat shield on the frame so the tang of the seat can insert into the frame. Put your seat back on. The wings will stick out at first, but will “relax” the more you ride your bike with it.

The care for your leather is very important as it can curl when it dries out. Treat is like your best pair or shoes with a leather conditioner that contains beeswax like “Aussie” or “Skidmore” from Fiebing. The beeswax will repel water and protect from the sun rays. Keep a close eye on the leather and give it the TLC that it needs according to the climate you live in.

Please post your installed heat shield on our Facebook page. We love to see your bikes.

Great heat shield. I own a Softail Slim and am only 5’2″, so had issues with the heat coming from the engine block and oil cap. I saw a review of the Capt Itch products and decided to give it a try – it is great! It was very easy to install, looks great on the bike and really works to protect agains the heat of the bike. I would highlighly recommend it!

Got a Crotch Cooler for my 17 Fat Boy S. At 5’6″ I kept contacting the oil tank cap with my inside thigh. Got burned a couple times. A bit over 30 days got my cooler and OMG what a difference. Here in Florida that cooler is a definite add on to the bike. Could not be more happy with my purchase. Very easy to install, no issues at all.

Received this Crotch Cooler for my BIrthday for my 99 Heritage Springer. I’d been frying my inside thigh off and on, especially in this MEMPHIS HEAT. We’ve ordered Captain Itch products before, with great results, so when I got this, we quickly put it on my bike. First ride, enough miles I would normally have a 2nd degree burn, I wasn’t even bothered by the heat in the least. These guys make a top-quality product, and their customer service is second to none. If you’re wondering if it’s worth it, the answer is YES- buy from Captain Itch!

After hours of research and reading other reviews I decided on these leather heat shields. And boy am I glad I did. They work great. My thighs used to get so hot that it drove me nuts. I had the other guys shields before but they really didn’t work. And if you have a pair you know what I mean. these are worth the money you pay, plus they look good. I’ve already got many complements. Thanks guys , now I ride cooler.

Have one in alligator for my 2011 Blackline. It was a game changer. Right thigh would hit oil cover. That thing got hot, but not anymore.

  7. Susan Porter

Love it. Had one prior to this that was looking pretty shabby wasn’t near as wide as this one so much better coverage against the heat. Very pleased
