Harley-Davidson heat shield with barbed wire tooling
Available for HD Touring Models and Softails, 500s and 750s. For Sportsters, please send us a picture of your bike with the seat off, so we can see how and where it attaches to the frame. After we get this information, you’ll get an email from us on how to proceed.
Description
This Harley-Davidson heat shield with barbed wire tooling is made of beautiful buffed bridle leather. It has a ply of split leather (Suede) on the bottom, so nothing can scratch your motorcycle. Both layers are glued together with industrial cement and stitched around the edges. Then we emboss it with our butterfly design, leaving a border to add studs or a tooled border.
In order to install your Harley-Davidson heat shield with barbed wire tooling you remove your seat. Take your heat shield and let some lukewarm water run over the top layer for about 30-60 seconds. Line up the opening in the heat shield on the frame so the tang of the seat can insert into the frame. Put your seat back on. The wings will stick out at first, but will “relax” the more you ride your bike with it.
The care for your leather is very important as it can curl when it dries out. Treat is like your best pair or shoes with a leather conditioner that contains beeswax like “Aussie” or “Skidmore” from Fiebing. The beeswax will repel water and protect from the sun rays. Keep a close eye on the leather and give it the TLC that it needs according to the climate you live in.
Please post your installed heat shield on our Facebook page. We love to see your bikes.

This the second item I have owned from the Captain. The cooler is made from very heavy material with a soft underside. Stiching and embossing are the best I’ve seen on leather articles.
In Minneapolis we have extensive road construction and I have been sitting at a dead stop for 10 to 15 minutes at a time.
I was previously cooking my nether regions. This item is a welcome addition and looks great. Customer service is excellent.
The leather starts out a bit stiff but will quickly relax and take is place behind the air filter and over the oil tank. I just returned from a summer 2015 trip of 6 hours straight. No issues with flapping or overheating. Please support this American business.

Got the crotch cooler with barb wire tooling. This really completed my 1997 Roadking classy look. Excellent workmanship, no more sweaty legs, great product. Already have my son hooked and he is going to order one for his Electraglide

2013 Harley Davidson Softail Slim with a Chrome Oil cap + massive heat from the 103 engine = blisters on my thigh. What to do? Search the web to find Captain Itch and Isabel. One order, One phone call and 3 days later I have a custom Leather Heat Shield with Barbed Wire in my hands. Installed quickly – with ease and off I go. Before, I couldn’t ride more than 25 miles without burn on the thigh – this trip I rode 50+ with comfort. And did I mention the look added to Slim. WOW! I am not certain there are enough adjectives to describe the detail, craftsmanship, look it gives Slim and NO MORE blisters. Customer service was phenomenal. The best spent $119.00 ever! Thank you Captain Itch and Isabel for the rescuing me and making my ride (short or long) pleasurable and the Sleek design that adds custom comfort to Slim. Shop here and never look back.

Been tiding mine for about four years now, best thing I ever did. Lots of miles since then ( maybe 15,000), never a problem, does a great job, looks like new. Cant believe it isn’t 5 star for everyone!
